Things to Do During Your Stay in Kingdom of Fife

In Fife, the mountains of the Highlands give way to rolling hills and farmland on this peninsula between the Firth of Forth and Firth of Tay. Our holiday cottages in Fife will give you the chance to explore the historic Kingdom of Fife, so called because, for centuries, it was the home of Scotland’s kings until James VI.

St. Andrews is the major draw for visitors here. Famous as the home of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club, and for its magnificent golf courses, St. Andrews also hosts Scotland’s oldest university. The town also boasts the atmospheric ruins of a 12th century cathedral and castle, and it’s an easy drive from our holiday cottages in Fife.

Once the capital of Scotland, Dunfermline is the final resting place of Robert the Bruce and also the birthplace of philanthropist Andrew Carnegie. Take a stroll round the beautiful gardens of Pittencrieff Park while you’re here. Falkland Palace is another highlight of Fife. This is a stunning renaissance palace, built as a hunting lodge for the Stuart Kings, featuring some superb interiors. And don’t miss the East Neuk, a string of pretty fishing villages set on a truly picturesque coastline.

GOLF - within easy striking distance of St Andrews, the home of golf, which regularly hosts the British Open and the Dunhill Masters. There are over forty golf courses on this small peninsula ranging from traditional links, through tree lined parkland to some of the most recently laid out greens and fairways in Scotland.

The Fife Millennium Cycleways criss-cross Fife offering long distance routes. Fife has one of the UK's most comprehensive cycle routes. Explore 300 miles (500km) of cycle route along quiet country lanes, disused railway lines and forest tracks as well as commuter routes in towns

Fishing – For the fly fishing enthusiast there are many wonderful opportunities to test your skill and fishing tackle, to the limit! Golden Loch and the Lomond Hills Fisheries are just two examples on our door step.
